Opportunity Report
For an iNGO, WaCurious gathered insights from pregnant women and young mothers to inform future innovations in maternity care.

WaCurious was approached by a European iNGO designing new services for maternal health in Kenya. The target audience for the research project was urban women, aged under 24, who were either pregnant or with an infant of less than 11 months, and, crucially, without health insurance. WaCurious' design team worked closely with the client to design a survey to record the diverse and nuanced pregnancy journeys of young Kenyan mothers.
The survey included both health care experiences and the economics of different public and private services, together with a parallel study of the perspectives of their male partners. WaCurious then mobilised 25 WaCurious members living in multiple low-income neighbourhoods across urban Nairobi who located and surveyed over 1,000 qualifying women and partners within less than 14 days. This was followed by a series of qualitative focus groups with selected survey participants to explore and validate survey findings. WaCurious then analysed the findings and presented a final detailed report in person to the client’s country and international teams to guide their new product and service development.
“Collaborating with the WaCurious team has been an absolute pleasure. What distinguishes the WaCurious team is their expertise, enthusiasm, and efficiency. Their capacity to deliver validated insights from a difficult-to-reach target group is truly commendable, demonstrating the unique relationship they have established over the years with their audience. Despite tight deadlines before the holidays, they exceeded expectations by recruiting our target group and delivering clear, rich, and validated insights. WaCurious has proven to be an excellent partner, and we highly recommend their services to anyone in search of quality research with tangible results.”
